Campaign to inform rural citizens about the mixed electoral system

Between August 2018 and January 2019, APEL implemented the project “Contributions to informing citizens from single-member constituencies in rural areas about the mixed electoral system, through local/regional radio and TV stations”.

The purpose of the project was to contribute to better informing rural citizens about the particularities of the mixed electoral system and about the electoral competitors in the single-member constituencies in the parliamentary elections, by providing complete and truthful information about the electoral process.

The following activities were carried out within the project:

  • A working session was organized with managers from local/regional radio/TV stations;
  • Two training sessions were organized with journalists from local/regional radio/TV stations;
  • 72 TV electoral debates were organized at the 18 beneficiary television stations and 8 radio electoral debates at the two beneficiary stations;
  • 3 electoral information programs were produced in partnership with Canal Regional and were broadcast on local/regional televisions (54 broadcasts in total)
  • 3 electoral information shows were produced and broadcast on the two radio stations included in the project (6 broadcasts in total).

The project was implemented by APEL with the financial support of the Soros Moldova Foundation.
