Some amendments to the Audiovisual Media Services Code enter into force on September 11, 2023, with their publication in the Official Gazette.
Thus, the notion of “disinformation” will have a new content, namely: “disinformation – intentional dissemination, by any means, in the public space, of information whose false or misleading nature can be verified and which is likely to harm national security” .
Changes were also made regarding the dominant situation in the formation of public opinion, i.e. the weighted audience share of audiovisual media services was reduced from 35% to 25%, which will be used to assess the risk of the emergence of a dominant situation.
The distributors of media services will be obliged to place the “must carry” audiovisual services on the first 20 positions in the automatic preselection list of retransmitted television services, according to the changes made in the Audiovisual Media Services Code.
