The concept of strategic communication and countering disinformation, information manipulation actions and foreign interference for the years 2024-2028 was adopted by the Parliament.
The document defines national interests, threats, risks, vulnerabilities and guidelines for action to ensure national security and resilience, according to a Parliament press release.
The concept is aligned with the vision of democratic governance, generating stability, security and prosperity of the Republic of Moldova, as well as with European integration efforts. At the same time, strategic communication and actions to counter disinformation, information manipulation actions and foreign interference are focused on several pillars: European integration, social cohesion, economic resilience, strengthening the defense sector and strengthening national security in a national context.
The Parliament also approved the structure of the Center for Strategic Communication and Combating Disinformation. The maximum staff of the Center will be 20 units. The institution will be headed by a director and a deputy director.
The Center for Strategic Communication and Combating Disinformation has the mission of strengthening cooperation between institutions in the fight against disinformation, manipulation of information and foreign interference, which pose a risk of harming national security and jeopardizing national interests.
The institution will implement the necessary measures to ensure the security of the information space and to increase the degree of resistance of societies in the face of threats.
