The media market, trust in the media and misinformation, on the agenda of the 2023 Media Forum in Moldova

The media market, trust in the press and disinformation are the main topics of debate at this year’s edition of the Moldovan Media Forum, which will take place on December 4-5 in Chisinau.

In opening the event, President Maia Sandu referred to the hybrid attacks and disinformation coming from the Russian Federation, and emphasized the need for a free press in Moldova to educate the critical spirit in society. According to the ambassador of the European Union in Chisinau, Janis Mazeiks, in the face of Russian disinformation campaigns, the role of the independent media to protect citizens and institutions from fakes is greater now than ever. The free and independent press is a pillar of democracy, the Ambassador of the Forgotten States to Moldova, Kent Logsdon, emphasized in his speech.

The event is attended by journalists, editors, media managers, representatives of media organizations and associations, professors and students from journalism faculties, representatives of public institutions and regulatory authorities, national and foreign experts.

Moldovan Media Forum is organized annually, since 2015, by the Press Council, in partnership with the Independent Press Association (API), the Center for Independent Journalism (CJI) and the Electronic Press Association (APEL).
